3 Layer Cake Recipe

Ingredients for 3 Layer Cake
- 1-1/2 cup softened butter or margarine
- 2-1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 5 eggs
- 2-3/4 cups of flour
- 1-1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 2 cups of milk
- 3 tablespoons of vanilla
- 3 tablespoons of cocoa for dusting pans
Ingredients for Frosting
- 1 cup of shortening
- 1 cup of semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup of powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon of water
- 2 cups of whipped topping
- Sprinkles in your favorite flavor
How to Make 3 Layer Cake
- Preheat oven to the 350 F.
- Grease three 8-inch square or 10-inch round pans & dust with cocoa.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar and butter. Mix them until creamy smooth.
- Now, in a separate medium bowl, beat the eggs, and then add eggs to the sugar and butter mixture very slowly. Mix them well.
- Add half the baking powder, half the flour, and half the milk. Beat them until it become smooth.
- Add the remaining baking powder, flour, and milk. Beat them again until smooth.
- After that add vanilla and mix on medium speed for 2-3 minutes.
- Now, evenly distribute the batter into the three pans.
- And then, bake for approximately 30- 35 minutes in 350 F oven heat. Test for the doneness with a toothpick.
- Cool for 10-15 minutes and then turn the cakes onto wire racks to finish the cooling.
Directions for frosting
- Melt the chocolate chips in the double boiler or in microwave.
- Now in a separate bowl, combine the shortening, water, and powdered sugar. Beat then until it become smooth.
- Slowly add melted chocolate chips and mix it well.
- Now, fold in the whipped topping until the chocolate is evenly distributed.
