Hello friends, welcome to Smooth Recipe. Today we are going to make Bean Soup.

Current time is filled with the fancy dishes, and we need a change of pace during this week. This is a very simple bean soup recipe which is very good in taste with handful of basic ingredients.

Caramelized Butternut Squash Soup

Ingredients for Bean Soup

  • 1 (16 ounce) package of dried navy beans
  • 7 cups of water
  • 1 ham bone
  • 2 cups of diced ham
  • ¼ cup of minced onion
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 pinch of ground black pepper
  • 1 bay of leaf
  • ½ cup of sliced carrots
  • ½ cup of sliced celery

How to Make Bean Soup

  1. First of all, place rinsed beans into a large stock pot, and then add water and bring it to boil. Boil it gently for 2 minutes; and then remove from heat, cover it and let stand for 1 hour.
  2. After that add ham bone, onion, cubed ham, pepper, salt, and bay leaves. Now bring to a boil; and reduce the heat, cover and simmer for 1 hour and 20 minutes or until beans are soft. Occasionally skim the surface of soup while it is cooking.
  3. Now add carrots and celery, cook them until tender. Remove the ham bone, scrape any meat from bone and place it back into soup and serve.
