Fruit Cake Recipe
Hello friends, welcome to Smooth Recipe. Today we are going to make Fruit Cake which is a classic fruit cake that is made with soaked unsweetened dried fruits. You can enjoy this cake in any season or in any festival. So friends, let’s start making this fruit cake.
Ingredients for Fruit Cake
- Nonstick cooking spray
- 1 cup of butter
- 1-1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 5 eggs
- 1-3/4 cups of flour
- 1 cup of rum
- 2 cups of raisins
- 1/2 cup of candied cherries
- 1/2 cup of candied citrus peel
- 1-1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon of allspice
- 1 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans
How to Make Fruit Cake
- Preheat oven to the 300 F.
- Spray 2 loaf pans with nonstick cooking spray.
- Now, in a large bowl, mix the sugar and butter until it become creamy.
- Separate the egg whites and yolks into 2 different separate bowls.
- Beat the egg yolks and add to the sugar and butter mixture.
- Beat the egg whites until stiff. Then, gently fold them into the mixture.
- Now, in a separate bowl, combine the cherries, citrus peel, allspice, flour, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, and nuts.
- Add half the rum into the flour, nut mixture and in fruits.
- After that, combine the sugar mixture with the rest of the mixed ingredients.
- And then, divide the mixture into the 2 loaf pans and cover it with the aluminum foil.
- Bake for 180 to 210 minutes in a 300 F oven heat.
- After that, remove from oven and cool for one hour before turning out into the larger pans.
- Using a skewer or dowel, poke holes throughout the top of the cakes.
- And then, sprinkle the remaining rum over the cakes.
- Now cover it with foil and wait for at least an hour before serving.
