Ingredients for Garden Fresh Tomato Soup

  • 4 cups of chopped fresh tomatoes
  • 1 slice of onion
  • 4 leaches of whole cloves
  • 2 cups of chicken broth
  • Two tablespoons of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 teaspoons of white sugar, or as per your taste

How to Make Garden Fresh Tomato Soup

  1. First of all, in a stockpot, over the medium heat, combine the tomatoes, cloves, onion, and chicken broth. And then bring to a boil, and gently boil for about 18-20 minutes to blend all of the flavors well.
  2. Now remove from the heat and mix the mixture properly through a food mill into a large bowl, or in a pan and discard any stuff (if any) left over in the food mill.
  3. Now in the empty stockpot, melt the butter over the medium heat. And stir in the flour to make a roux, and cooking until the roux is a medium brown in color.
  4. Gradually whisk in a bit of the mixture of tomato, so that no lumps form in it, and then stir in the rest. Season it with the sugar and salt as per your taste.
