Hello friends, welcome to Smooth Recipe. Today we are going to make Ham and Potato Soup.

This is a very delicious recipe of ham and potato soup. Making this soup is very easy and the great thing about soup is that you can add additional ingredients as per your choice, more ham or potatoes, etc and it still turns out a great soup recipe.

Chicken Tortilla Soup Recipe

Ingredients for Ham and Potato Soup

  • 3 ½ cups of peeled and diced potatoes
  • ⅓ cup of diced celery
  • ⅓ cup of finely chopped onion
  • 3 ¼ cups of water
  • ¾ cup of diced cooked ham
  • 2 tablespoons of chicken bouillon granules
  • ½ teaspoon of salt, as per your taste
  • 1 teaspoon of ground white or black pepper, as per your taste
  • 5 tablespoons of butter
  • 5 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups of milk

How to Make Ham and Potato Soup

  1. First of all, combine the celery, onion, potatoes, ham and water in a stockpot. After that bring them to a boil, and then cook over the medium heat until potatoes are tender, about 10-15 minutes. Stir in the chicken bouillon, salt & pepper.
  2. Now, in a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low flame heat. Whisk in flour with a fork & cook, stir them constantly until thick, for about 1 minute.
  3. Slowly stir in the milk as not to allow lumps to form until all of the milk has been added. After that continue stirring over medium-low flame heat until thick, 4-5 minutes.
  4. In the end, stir the milk mixture into the stockpot, and cook soup until it heated through. Serve the soup immediately.
