Lebanese Style Red Lentil Soup

Hello friends, welcome to Smooth Recipe. Today we are going to make Lebanese Style Red Lentil Soup.

This Red Lentil Soup is one of my favorite soups that sort of resemble split-pea. I love to serve it garnished with lemon wedges, and sometimes I add grilled chicken breast or cooked & cubed sweet potatoes for texture. Friends, have fun with it!

Creamy Cheddar Cheese Soup

Ingredients for Lebanese Style Red Lentil Soup

  • 6 cups of chicken stock
  • 1 pound of red lentils
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
  • One large chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon of ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • ½ cup of chopped cilantro
  • ¾ cup of fresh lemon juice

How to Make Lebanese Style Red Lentil Soup

  1. First of all, bring the chicken stock and lentils to a boil in the large saucepan over high flame heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes.
  2. In the meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a skillet over the medium heat. Stir in garlic & onion, and cook them until the onion has softened and turned translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Now stir onions into the lentils & season with cumin & cayenne. Continue the simmering until the lentils are tender, about 10-12 minutes.
  4. In the end, carefully puree the soup in the standing blender or with the stick blender until it smooth. Stir in lemon juice and cilantro before serving.
